I ran red planters for years for the staggered openers and disc closers. My experience has been that I can maintain a consistant depth across a broad range of soil types in the same field. With the 1200, the seed spacing is 2nd to none. There is a learning curve with setting the singulators, but they're very accurate. The biggest complaint I have against them is replacement parts are higher than JD. That said, I run 3 of em and really haven't considered anything else.
