south central IOWA		I tried this before with my skidloader and I couldn't get it to work. Only tried 1 post and it was a deal of pulling one and trying to shove a slightly larger one in the hole. I gave up rather easily because I had other means of getting the post set.

I think you could get the spear to make a nice pilot hole, but the only way to get the post in is to use the same principle as your pilot hole maker. Even at that, your post better not be much bigger than your pilot hole. If you just try to push a square end post into a smaller hole it wants to crumble the edges into the empty space, making for a very loose fit and a post that isn't in the ground very far.

Taper your posts so that they are as sleek and sharp as a pencil and I bet you can get it to work.
