NW Washington | Try cutting off about 1/4 of the top of the whole head of garlic, pour on a little olive oil and wrap in foil and bake it for about 45 minutes. When it cools down you can just squeeze the cloves out of their outer skins and it taste real mild and I don't think it smells too bad. A lot of folks have seem to think only nasty folks eat garlic. Tell your wife to eat it too then she won't notice the smell.
