Ice jams were always the real flood makers according to the old timers I've talked to. Notice the icebreaker piers on the old bridge and moreso on the Snowden bridge. I don't think the new bridge would fare so well in that regard but having control of the flow during spring breakup has pretty well eliminated such problems. The Yellowstone with no dams, is still plagued by the problem.
So you got everything sold and are now finally one of those rich farmers I'm always hearing about. You and your bride need to drive down and see us sometime. We could drive around and I'd pick your brain on geology of how this particular part of God's Country came to be. Particularly interesting drive between Ft. Peck Dam and Terry, MT. Culbertson to Regina is also interesting, as is the drive from Circle to Roundup. Maybe better plan on a week.
