Well I will chime in here. Not Capitol Intensive? Sorry but you are barking up the wrong tree there. Go ahead and buy a 1100 to 1200 dollar steer. Now we have to feed that critter. Just rough calculations but about 125 to 150 fertilizer cost. Spraying is around 20 to 25. Seed around 80 to 120 depending. Chopping to the pile is around 6.50 per ton x hopefully 20 ton should amount to 130 per acre. Now we have to have the dry feed and protein source which usually is around 50 to 75 per head and you have to own your own tractor and feed wagon,system for protein source, manure spreader, oh and time which we usually value at very minimal returns. DO NOT TELL ME ABOUT CAPITOL INTENSIVE. Several on her will add to the list too. Some how you have not considered all the expenses appropriatlly as I have a retired farmer near me that says IF YOUR GOING TO FIGURE ALL THOSE EXPENSES YOUR NOT GOING TO MAKE ANY MONEY.
