Subject: Re: Building a barn yourseld

Central MN
We did some of the work on my cousins compost pack barn. We poured most of the curbs, hung all the gates, waterers, and did most of the outside flatwork for the cement. It took us alot longer than it would have had we paid someone but it turned out alright and we are hardly professionals. For the same cousin we built a 30 by 40 shop from the ground up. We did everything ourselves. We also tinned the old barn roof ourselves. I think a guy could build a barn yourself if you had some carpentry skills or atleast had a buddy that did that could oversee it. The hardest part for us has been the cement flat work. We have had trouble getting everything to slope the proper way at times. But my cousin doesn't care because as he says " The cows don't care what it looks like so why should we!"
