SE Iowa | i have a hay field iam seeding down with a mix of alfalfa its 82% alfalfa, 10%clover, 8%timothy, @14#/acre, that is a boughten mix then want ot put some orchardgrass with it @3#/acre. read on here some use a annual rye grass as a nurse crop. talking to my seed dealer he didn't know if the annual ryegrass @12-15#/acre would "carry" every thing in the drill like oats would worryed about not feeding though drill. would like to say away from the oats because of getting it to dry. do i need to worry about feeding in the drill? how do you seed your alfalfa and ryegrass?
