Galva, IL----- Half way between Peoria & Moline | My folks told me as a 5 year old, I snuck across the road and stopped an elderly neighbor to invite him over for coffee. He accepted the invite, folks were a little surprised when he and I walk in the kitchen door. Ended up staying a couple hours, while his John Deere 50 and plow say across the road in the field. Was the beginning of a long neighborhood friendship. Oh, we had just moved onto that farm and not even met our new neighbor, until that day. That was in the early 50's, now some of my neighbors are from 40-50 miles away, we wave, but never enough 'time' to stop and visit. Times are achangin. |
