I am of the opinion that current demand in the gasoline market and prices are not correlated correctly. If gasoline demand is at a ten year low, should prices of the product today be three fold higher than the price was ten years ago. We mandated ethanol when crude prices were between $45-$50 dollars a barrel. Gasoline was approximately $1.50 at the pump. Now today, look at the pricing structure. What fundamentally changed over that period of time in the energy market? A government mandate. Is it the sole reason for the prices of today? I don't know. Is it a coincidence that prices have rockete higher since the mandate? I don't know. It is just my opinion this mandate caused the pricing pressures we are seeing today. Am I right? I don't know. I am just voicing my opinion over what I believe caused the current pricing issues we have today. I am sure many other folks have differing views which they are entitled to.
