North Dakota | We had the same thing about 8-9 yrs ago where one lamb was big and one was little. Since then we have been paying better attention to body condition and feeding accordingly. Prior to that we had mostly black face sheep then got some dorsets and fed them all the same. Now we feed the ewes according to the number of lambs they are carrying and they come out very uniform. I was told a theory that the lamb that is attached the uterus closes to the blood supply gets the nutrients first and the second gets shorted. What I never understood was when you get a ewe that is fat as a toad and has a little dinky single. | |
