the thing with dairy cows is the rest of the cow is the limit a lot of the time, not the udder. It's all how much they can eat to supply the udder with the stuff it needs to make milk. So if you have a cow with a "blind" quarter, you may not notice it, especially if it's a front.

I'm sure you would love to see what that one would have done with all 4 healthy though!
We're not going crazy culling here. Prices aren't as good here and grass has put out, so selling a thinner cow just doesn't make sense to me. I'm betting they keep on up a bit in price and I know if they're heavier, they bring about 2-3X the price per pound as the thinner ones do. | |
