If you have a good NH dealer, look carefully at the old series Genesis. They are great row crop tractors since they have a very short turning radius (unlike the other tractors you will find in that price range). They have an excellent hyd system, too and the transmission is very very nice.

If you are buying a row crop tractor, I would buy the Genesis. IF you are buying for tillage, etc and turning radius is less important that ruggedness and power -- then you need to find a Magnum.

I have both a Genesis and a Magnum in my collection. I usually plant and spray with the Genesis, but this year it had a problem planted with the Magnum for a day while we waited for repair. The Magnum is far less comfordable and I missed all of the little convienence things that the Genesis offers -- plus it was pretty hard to turn on 12 r 30 with the Magnum.

I personally would not buy a JD, but many other people do. The pre 8000's have a poor turning radius like the Magnum.
