Baldwin City, KS | Got our first drop in visit from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment yesterday. Some concerned folks that chose to remain anonymous, thought that maybe our winter feeding grounds needed looked over. The lady was extremely nice and had alot of common sense, which was a breath of fresh air. She really only found one issue with an intermittent stream that runs through one winter pasture, but otherwise, thought we were doing a pretty good job. Now, though we are on the radar and have to work with a watershed specialist to submit a plan to KDHE.
Anyone been through this before? It sounds simple enough, but I'm concerned the whole deal could get complicated, now that we are in their books. I'm not feeding fat cattle here, just trying to winter my mother cows in the best places that we see fit so they can stay healthy and raise calves. | |
