Subject: Re: Lexion 580R Sieve Questions

I have only been running a Lexion 580 for one year, so I don't have much practical experience, but my dealer insisted on the TM6 sieve for everything except 150+ bu/A corn. He said the TM6 does a much better job on wheat and sunflower than the deep tooth. Our corn rarely exceeds 110 bu/A, so I plan on leaving the TM6 seives in place for all crops. I do remember back in the 80's or early 90's my Dad was having trouble with his JD 8820 throwing wheat out the back when picking double swaths (42'), especially when the straw was very dry. He remembered how well his old 7700 with a 1 1/8" chaffer did in wheat and decided to try the 1 1/8" chaffer in place of the 1 5/8" chaffer that was factory installed in the 8820. The 1 1/8" chaffer did a much better job, because it could be opened further then the wide spaced one. It even worked better than the Lowen airfoil chaffer.
