Good advice on saving the $3500. I also figured the 100 hour per year thing and figured if my Toro Z Master lasted me 30 years or 3000 hours I should be on my last mower for the rest of my life. Mine has the 23 hp air cooled vertical shaft kohler and it's been good so far.
