Someone else on here said a 4x4 with caster wheels for a work table. No reason that would not work as well for a welding unit


I built a 4x4 with a lower shelf and on 6" casters. Both plates are 3/8" steel (the top needs to be 1/2 plate to remain true). I ended up welding a 6" channel iron across the bottom of my deck to keep it true. It is heavy enough it doesn't slide around when you are beating something but still can be moved around the shop. I also agree that you must mount a 110 outlet on it for grinding. Just make sure you build it right the first time! I paid $350 for my new steel. I would never use used stuff to make a table from. The smooth/ true surface is great when fabricating something.
