West Union, Illinois | dt4020 - The longer the frame the more weight on the back axle and less on the tractor. Umm... I realize it's been 40 years since I studies Geometry, but can you explain that? I may be thinking of it differently than you mean. I am interpretting it as saying the longer hitch will carry less weight.It looks to me if anything the longer frame will add weight to the hitch because you have the weight of the tongue added to it. If the axles are moved forward, either by relocating the the bed or the axles, then the balance will change and the axle weight and tongue weight will change. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 ^ If my axles are at 6 the hitch is carrying the weight of 7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14, and 15 regardless of how long the tongue is. I think you are confusing it with a lever. A lever takes less force the longer it is, but the lever doesn't have weight on both sides of the pivot point
