Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA

$150 rent
$150 fertilizer
$100 seed
$25 fuel
$25 repairs
$15 chemicals
$15 crop ins

ZERO overhead included

Total = $480 or $3.20/bu at 150bpa

I think you could easily include an extra $150 of misc variable costs and overhead which would push your costs to $4.20/bush. These are just estimates but they should be "in the ballpark" for the average 150bpa-ish farm.

Quick numbers using your format:

250 rent
75 power and water
160 fert
100 seed
25 fuel
35 repairs
20 chemicals
12 insurance

variable Total $677 or 2.94 per bushel at 230bpa.

You just have to be willing to fight rocks. It's more fun at $6 than at $3, but with a positive basis, we'll still be farming here. Like coup said, just don't sell it all at that price.
