Boone, Iowa | I just priced recaps and virgin trailer tires. There is a $100 difference in price. If you cannot justify the $350-400/tire for new, specify that you want 1st run recaps. Two dealers that I checked prices with will only sell 1st run recaps. I have a set of Bandag 1st runs on a grain trailer and have not had any problems with them. I keep an eye on them a little more than my virgin drive tires. The main thing with any tire is to make sure they are properly inflated. I did have a set of new recaps that the salesman installed on my tractor when I bought it. I don't know if they were 1st, 2nd or 3rd run recaps. After 3 tires started throwing tread and one tire zipper-ripped, I installed 8 new virgin Yokahomas. | |
