I also believe that people think aluminum wheels save them a bunch of weight when they don't. Aluminum itself is lighter, but the wheels are 2-3x as thick. To me, aluminum wheels are good for looks only. If you are worried about the weight of your tires and wheels, run virgins instead of recaps.
