| Ouch ! Indiana had a dog tax for years but it was only $2/dog and $4 for each additional dog. You could buy a kennel license for $20. Our county dropped it 3-4 yrs ago, not sure if it was dropped state wide or just our county. The tax went int a special fund which the twp trustee drew from when a dog killed someone's livestock in his/her twp, or if a dog attacked a person I've been twp trustee for over 30 yrs & only paid out on a dog claim 2x and both times I really thought the damage (livestock deaths) was from coyotes rather than a dog as the dead animal had been partially eaten. Bogs usually just kill, a lot of times don't even kill, for the sport of it. | |
