Subject: RE: No-till soybean populations

Eastern Ontario
I am in eastern Ontario so I can only speak for my area. I have tried everything but 7.5 inch rows and have found the 15" to yield more then 30" regardless of the variety. The planter at 30" I would drop the population back to 150 or less and plant a very bushy var. and the no till drill would consistently out yield at slightly more seeds per acre. I believe soil fertility is a "factor" in this equation as well. We use a Sunflower now which has excellent depth control and try to av. 155000 s/a. of live germ seeds.
