Earlier dry off for early spring planting and pest control. The long tips are about 2.5" wide. They are a sort of compromise between a standard tip and say a 3" twisted shovel like one might use on a chisel plow. I'm just going a bit deeper and travelling at a good rate of speed to get the desired amount of tillage done. I have a set of 4" tips that I may use sometime and see what they can do.
