It depends on the the spreader. I have a chandler cart and stock pile lime, and then load w/ bobcat into the cart a slow but easy process and when it gets below freezing it balls up and doesn't come out right....

My neighbors have a row-gator and it doesn't matter, they spread with snow on the ground.

So if you have a $2xx,xxx spreader you can spread but if you have a cart that was like 10grand new you can't spread. ;)
