Subject: 5 acres slough grows to 20 acres

South Dakota
First I talked to Soil Conservation Guy and we looked at maps. A draw is about 800 feet from this slough. He made it look like I could drain some low spots and get the 10 year average of slough size with FSA aerial maps. Throw out the wettest and driest year and run a feeder tile to the average depth. My agronomist said he heard of this. I then go back to Soil office and they deny we even had this conversation and said I would be out of the program. I don't believe in draining wet lands but some strange wet years have lost some expensive land. I thought the 10 year average sounded reasonable. It seems like the rules are vague and can be interpreted many ways. What about this 10 year thing??
