Panhandle of Ne.
What we have seen "here" the last 4 years is where it was coc planted into standing residue, using strip till/no till, it was horrible. Farmers have gone back to tillage, not all, and are not having near as much problem with goss'. We had 2 circles that were planted coc this year where the corn last year was hailed on. Corn last year didn't make but 50 bpa, small ears etc. that we couldn't get in the combine. Decided to moldboard it before planting corn this year, but ran a landstar on it that drug some of those ears back to the top. Noticed it when I was planting it but didn't give it much thought. Planted the most goss' tolerant seed we could find and still ended up with some goss'. But, where there was goss', you could look down and find one of those volunteer ears from the previous crop that had came up.
