Subject: applying N with planter vs. broadcasting N preplant

Eastern Iowa
I have some corn on corn ground with all dry fertilizer already applied this fall but no nitrogen. I'm looking for options to apply N next spring.

Option #1) Use Sprayer to go out and broadcast liquid nitrogen, work it in, and plant. With this method, how much broadcast N is required to get to side dress? All side dressing is done with NH3.

Option #2) lightly work ground and apply liquid nitrogen with planter. 2" to side of seed. Once again, how much N is necessary to get to side dressing? (again using NH3 to side dress)

I would think by applying N with the planter rather than the Sprayer, I could get by with less, more costly liquid N and put the bulk of my N down at side dress with cheaper NH3? However, applying liquid N with the sprayer would be faster and not slow the planter down with carrying liquid N around. Are there any ergonomics or yield benefits to either method?
