nw pa | Well not much better here in the north east. Had a freeze monday, anywhere from 29 to 19,depending on where the hills are and some cold fog that developed. Corn that was three or four inches is now burnt down to the ground. Add rain most every day from the first week of May and things are starting rough.Corn that didn't freeze the growing point or drown out might make a crop but has a tough struggle from here on. Not much sprayed, nitrogen mostly gone.Market price not bad but nobody is taking any. No thoughts of replanting until the first planting is done. On some ground around that could be a week or more. Wheat could stand sprayed but some fields to wet to get in others starting to head.Straw is short and heads are small. Throw in some disease and it will be a banner year.
Looks like a good year to lock the bin doors and sell next year. | |
