Walnut Grove MN USA | As a parttime bullracker I HATE backing into a sloped chute area. The worst part is pulling out loaded, very tough to make a smooth start and if icy forget it. A sloped area in front of the chute is also going to slammed pretty hard by some truckers when they hit the chute. Trailer height should be about 42-44" about my beltline works good for me but doesn't help you much. As a hog producer I would use a wide chute like 32-36 inches like the other guy says. Pigs don't like to go into a strange place alone. Concrete floor would be good if doable, I would use something other than wood for sidewalls, some packers are requiring no wood in the loading chutes, they don't like slivers and I don't blame them. Put a side door in the chute so the trucker can walk down the side of the chute to get behind the hogs and drive them up into the truck. | |
