Why doesn't he like shares? In our case we have share crop agreements but don't really care for them. Why? Well we have our own dryer, but land owners want everything kept seperate so wet crops go to the elevator where we both end up paying higher drying costs. Beans and wheat aren't an issue as they typically go straight onto a truck get delivered to end users. Most of our landlords are good, but we have a couple that seem to think that since they are on shares they can demand certain things like resprays, certain varieties etc etc. We pay all the expenses, but they think that if the field isn't perfect we should correct the issue at our cost to protect THEIR income. Hasn't really been a big issue, more of an irritant that anything else but it is one of the main reasons we prefer straight rent. See more and more land owners wanting to go share crop, but that's just a result of high grain prices. Funny they insisted on cash rent when corn was 2.25 and beans $6.

LOL, they don't like it becuase his rent went from below market value to what he should be paying.
