NW Indiana | I haven't started corn yet, it's just not drying down at all for me. Hand shelled some planted early May this week and it's still testing 22.9%... It doesn't look too promising though, it was all in by mid-may and I definitely had some pollination issues with the heat. I've got "ears" on everything but only about half of the cob has anything on it. I'm hoping to average 100, but I think that's a lot of hoping... Beans look much better, and we got some timely rains starting at the end of July and then every week during August and September. Most of my fields are small though, so by the time I get into the good beans the outside rows have really dragged the bpa down. On the glass half full side, I still get to spend quality time with my family doing something that I love (I just wish it paid a little more this year...) | |
