Yes the yields are so bad that in many cases the cotton wont pay for the stipping and the defoliation. On top of that the Revenue price is 1.23 a pound while open market is ninety cents to a dollar. You do the math and see which is better for the farmers with less than a 200 pound yield. It aint cheap to harvest a crop these days.

Cotton is a good feed for cattle. Have seen fields of harvested cotton fenced off many times. Remember that farmer cant sell the bailed cotton for feed. He can only feed it to his own cows.
