Question is and should be, take that 16,500 dollars and CD it, what's your rate of return at less than 1% and factor in inflation too, which gives you a negative rate of return.
an acre of ground at 16,500 , corn yielding 180bu @ 6.00= 1080.00 minus expenses say 300.00/ac = 780.00/ac= 6-7% on your investment,
another Q, what rate of return will one attain if the farm bill strips any ethanol mandates away from vehicle emissions and consumption standards?
