I would get the wired/wireless router anyway. Not that much difference in the cost and much more flexibility/expandability in the future. To use WAPs on both ends, you have to put the remote one in the bridge mode. I have done it with linksys in the past. I recently replaced the linksys equipment with some second hand high end Cisco stuff. I have Cisco aironet 1200s. The remote AP is in the bridge mode and that end goes back wired after it leaves the bridge. The Cisco equipment has commercial grade encryption and security. But it is not cheap if you have to buy it new. I got mine cheap.
