| Gotta take off pretty soon for the meeting but not too optimistic about keeping the PO open. Currently I drive 13 miles to the PO to get my mail. Another PO also up for closure is 13 miles the other direction. Next closest PO also up for closure is another 7 miles from my current PO. If all 3 are shut down, the nearest PO will be 25 miles in one direction or 40 in another.
I do have a mailbox at the state highway 3 miles from my house. I changed my mail delivery to the PO a couple years ago to help the postmaster have more "inside" boxes. I also have paid extra for monthly delivery of packages to use USPS instead of UPS. It sounds like route mail which is now sorted in town at the PO 70 miles away will be an option, so I'll probably settle for that. I imagine other folks who currently get mail at the PO will also put up boxes.
Has anyone else had meetings on closure of your post offices and what did the patrons decide to do in these situations?
