Subject: RE: cover crop in a wheat soy rotation

Thumb of Michigan
We've had volunteer rye in wheat. Rotation was typically corn, rye cover flown into corn, then RUR soy's, then wheat. Looks awful, never got docked for it though. I've flown rye as well as oilseed Radish into soy's pre leaf drop and had OK results. I know you didn't ask, but I could never get a stand of radish by flying into corn. Anyway, wondering if you could use rye a couple of years ahead of wheat and get by. Gives you 2 years to get rid of all the rye if you don't use rye a year before wheat.
