Lancaster County, Pa. | Jared, Let's put it this way....I'm going to try it again. I have seen enough to know that planting wide rows won't be a flop, it's just a question of wether it's the best way to grow wheat year in year out. I had some 15" and some 7.5" last year but I did not have a good side by side test. The 15" actually did better than the 7.5", but there were many other factors besides row spacing that went into those results. I no-till some wheat into corn stalks and I'm thinking that may be a good place for 15" wheat just because I should be able to do a better job planting with the Kinze than with a drill. Everyone says variety selection is important but I have yet to come across any recommendations for our part of the country. You want a variety that tillers well. Also, you will probably notice better, more even emergence planting with the Kinze. I'll be curious to hear how you make out. |
