National Security. That is what crop insurance is about. Ask Egypt.
It is a great tool available to the farmer, made enticing enough by subsidies that many/most will take it, to guarantee the national food supply/supply chain and social stability.
The moral issue comes in when operations abuse the system and pad APHs. Other than that, crop insurance is a smart move by the government and the farmer.
Stay in business! The world needs us, literally. you stole my thunder, they talk about a safety net for the farmer, in reality its a safety net for our country a country loses its ability to feed its own people its soverenty is next to go, few farmers would rather brag about how well they did on there crop ins payout, as they would in the pride of a crop grown well, if our goverment retains its ability to restrict our trade at times they have a inherant responsability to make sure we can still feed the people. |
