Near-north Ontario, French River
Its all done mechanically. Having said that I've not seen the machines first hand. The cob enters the plant, is blanched , then run over a husking bed to remove the husk. From there the cob is fed, tip end first, into the 'cutters'. As to how the cutter itself works , I know there are knives inside but not sure if they are stationary or rotating, all I know is the kernals are cut off and the cob spits out the other end LOL. I did find a couple of videos though. http://www.hughescompany.biz/index.php?content=c29f9e54-d30c-d464-e...
