Subject: County Fair livestock sale-rant

Western Nebraska
my 11 year old son just finished first year showing two pigs for 4-H at county fair. Got a purple for showmanship and two blue ribbons on the pigs. He did a great job, learned, grew and matured which is what we were after.
Sale day yesterday. Allowed to sell only one pig, my sons pig brought 2.70/lb. Very satisfied. Another kid sold the Grand Champion swine for $6.?? /lb. That's O.K.
Largest farmer in areas' grandchildren sold their purple ribbon market swine at auction, bought by red dealership that caters to them BIG time for $8.??/lb.
Is this normal?
