Subject: RE: corn or hay-need advice from the pros

central - east central Minnesota -

Russ SCPA - 8/6/2011 15:44 Not from NY, but have been in hay and corn business for 35 plus eyars. Hay is one huge risk, it is extremely easy to make a "slight" mistake a good high waulity horse hay is now mulch, and believe me you will not like mulch price. I would strongly suggest folowing the advice of renting the property to a "well respected", well referenced local operator. Not sure what going rentals in your area are, but the "learning curve" in ag can be financially breaking.

He could work on share's with someone, to get the feet wet . . . . .  By running an ad, for rent or shares- could give a selection of guys willing to help with custom harvesting and/or drying.
It's very possible, to farm, by hireing harvesting, drying and trucking, while he does all the rest of the planning, tillage, planting and such  . . . . .
