Some sandy loam soils, some heavier black dirt. Have seen some DK corn firing but not the companies we planted. Swear split-shot made a world of difference on keeping it green and still running on all cylinders. Took a spade out and soil that would ball in your hand is about 5-6" down, so not terrible if we can get the soil recharged with additional H20. Heat will definately take the top of the yield off no matter if it looks good or not.
