High Springs, Florida | What you folks are experiencing up there is "normal" here. Summertime "here" is like winter up "there". We spend a lot of time indoors. Most outdoor work is done early morning or late afternoon.
Not uncommon to jump in the truck if it's been sitting in the sun and see 100-107 on the mirror thermometer. Everyone here with a pickup has one or more coolers in the back filled with ice and some kind of beverage.
Corn? Almost impossible to grow without irrigation. There is some grown for dairy silage about 10 miles from me, and the pivot corners look like Agave.
Peanuts seem to fair OK on dryland, and so does the hay, but it's much shorter than up north.
