All fault lies with the prosecution for bringing this case to trial without a shred of evidence. The Medical Examiner said that he couldn't state the cause of death so the prosecutor got a TV forensic anthropologist to state that she would call it a homicide because duct tape was found in the bag. There has been too many people in this country convicted on circumstantial evidence, that spent numerous years in prison and then were released because evidence surfaced that proved they were not guilty. In a lot of those cases it was proven that the prosecutor withheld evidence that would have resulted in a not guilty verdict.  The judge in this case also allowed the prosecution to pull a lot of shady crap.

I agree.  The prosecution totally blew it.  They overcharged what could be proven, and didn't try to convict on the evidence collected.

Admittedly, I did not see or hear very much of the 'evidence', but the main thing that puzzled me was:

How did the duct tape (supposed possible murder weapon) go from being applied across the mouth and nose of a living child, then the flesh decomposed completely away to "a dry bone skeleton", and then the tape was on the bare skull, as was claimed, while the skull was lying on it's side -- over the course of several months in a swamp, while animals had scattered the rest of the skeletal bones around a small area?   Does not make sense.
