Subject: RE: shawn here

Not debating that certian areas of ontario such as kent/essex, south perth, tillsonburg areas would try to plant heavly towards corn even if it is late planting, but ontario is a big spot with plenty of diverse land bases and climate zones my gut feeling would be with $12.5-13 dollar soybeans that the switch came earlier and quicker to most producers that could flex acrage one way or the other. Sure some seed dealers had bigger corn sales, but likely for every dealer that had a bigger year there are probably 2 that had a lower corn seed sale year. If the weather in spring would have been normal to let planting happen on time we would likely ended up with record corn acres in ontario. But the spring went down the way it did and most guys looked at 13 dollar beans and the potential to plant winter wheat that has excellent price oppurtunity for 2012, guys took the corn seed back to the dealers and picked up soybean seed. If the fall is open and allows for good harvest and good wheat planting conditions you will see a record winter wheat planting in ontario.Of course time will tell.
