Subject: Re: Concerning the $3 corn thread below

Pittsburg, Kansas

The problem with the Turkish idea here, or at least one problem, is wages need to be world competitive for companies to want to come here. Or we have to have some other competitive advantage to offset our high wage level.

Since wages in the USA are among the highest in the world with a high standard of living compared to the rest of the world, wages and standard of living have to come down to competitive levels. No one wants that. I sure don't. That is where the rub comes in.

Welcome to a world economy.

Some day we as farmers may face the same type of competition from some of the other countries of the world that have vast agricultural development potential. If they get their act together, we could become another Europe as far as being competitive in producing crops. Imagine competing against a 50,000 acre farm where the fields are a thousand acres apiece in a place that has good infrastructure and a sound economy. It could be tough.
