Panhandle of Ne. | It all depends where they are grown. In Ca., they will grow for 10 months or more before harvest because of their weather. They can make up to 50 ton out there. Here, we have to get them out before the ground freezes, so we plant them in mid-late April and they have us start harvesting around the 6th of Oct. If the weather is still warm enough, we can gain up to 2 tons per acre from the first of Oct. until the last of Oct. as they are still growing. Just can't wait until the end of Oct. or we normally wouldn't get them all out. I really don't know how long they will grow in good weather. As Farmertime said, for seed, they take 18 months, so I guess maybe they stop growing at that time? | |
