Subject: RE: Wasn't there a design change?

SW Saskatchewan
One of our neighbours, now 94, worked on the Dam in the late 30's, had many stories to tell about the shanty towns that grew up around wpa sites.

From his stories and from documentaries I have gathered that there was a slump from the pumped fill when it was about 1/2 built and the resulting tsunami did a lot of damage.

Could you fill us in?

I fully support the Army Corp of Engineers-the greatest projects of all time were completed under their oversight and with the recent emphasis on lighter, cheaper, poorer we will maybe never see such projects again.

I tip my hat to all that built those dams.
