Lack of airspeed information is a critical situation no matter what plane it is. Lost airspeed in a thunderstorm could be a very bad situation. Lots of possibilities here. Too fast, exceed turbulence penatration speed, something bad happens. Too slow, stall spin. My guess is the rudder fell off. Airbus has had a history of this.
