Manitoba
last year was my first year with gps steering (different system from yours, ez500/ezsteer). I asked similar questions and in the end chickened out and went with omni xp subscription for 3 months. It did a good job but after the subscription ran out we continued using the ezsteer on waas running haybine/ swathing/tillage/ raking etc. and I think it might have been ok on waas for planting for us as well. Fields make a diff I think, ours are square, flat. I'm not familiar with the unit you are using but if you can easily upgrade to a higher level you could start on waas and if happy stick with it and if not upgrade. I think when I went ahead and upgraded it took only 20 minutes or so. So long as you don't have to go back and use the steering again to spray etc, then the higher levels, probably rtk are necessary, as far as I understand.

But even on waas it would have been straighter than I could ever steer manually.
